India Expo Centre & Mart Inaugurates 2 MW Solar Rooftop plant

2.0 MW solar roof top plant at Expo Centre of India Exposition Mart Ltd (India Expo Centre & Mart), a state-of-the-art, multi-functional venue hosting international business-to-business exhibitions and promotional events in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, was dedicated to the Nation BY Shri Brijesh Pathak, Hon’ble Minister for Additional Energy Sources, Govt. of Uttar Pradesh. Hon’ble Minister assured of incentives in the field of solar roof top as well as green buildings across Uttar Pradesh.
This plant spanning across 35000 sqm of roof, consists of 7860 Trina PV modules of 320 Wp each and 33 nos. of SMA inverters.
The project was completed in around 8 months and was declared for commercial use on 31st May 2017. India Expo Centre & Mart is slated to use the generated solar energy to meet up to 50% of its varying energy needs. Gurgaon-based Amplus will own, operate and maintain the project for a period of 25 years.

“This plant not only serves as a testimony of India Expo Centre & Mart’s commitment towards ‘going green and reducing carbon footprint’, but will also bring total savings of INR 380 Million over project lifetime of 25 years,” Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Chairman at India Expo Centre & Mart said.
This plant over its lifetime will help in saving 69,000 MT CO2, which is equivalent to planting 86,000 trees in addition to the guaranteed cost savings to India Expo Centre & Mart.
India Expo Centre & Mart has been hosting the prestigious Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo for several years now and will host the next edition of REI from September 20-22, 2017. This event has played a key role in promotion of renewable energy in India with support from Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).
On the occasion of the Solar plant inauguration today, India Expo Centre & Mart has organised a round table conference on ‘Green buildings – A Business opportunity’. “We want to bring to the forefront how incorporating alternate energy in energy mix is paramount to building a sustainable future for your organisation” said Shri Rakesh Kumar, Chairman IEML.
Recently, Government of India under the 2015 Paris climate agreement, has targeted to lower its carbon emissions by 33 per cent from the 2005 levels through substitution by non-fossil fuel based power. The government aims to increase energy sourced from solar rooftop systems to 40 gigawatts by 2022. India Expo Centre & Mart aims to contribute to this cause through their initiatives.
