Delhi:Celebration of International Yoga Day at IGI Airport Unit.

It has been proved that Yoga not only provides physical and mental relaxation but also develops strength and resilience.
Further, the numerous benefits of Yoga make it a popular practice for people across the globe, especially in times of a pandemic when mental and physical health is under stress. Also the theme for International Yoga Day 2021 is ‘Yoga for well-being’, i.e. how the practice of Yoga can promote the holistic health of every individual. With the COVID-19 pandemic exacerbating psychological suffering and mental health problems, many people have been embracing Yoga to stay healthy and to fight isolation and depression. It is natural that due to so many L&O arrangement duties, extra duty hours and the spread of corona virus among the staff during both the waves of pandemic, staff felt some stress. IGI Airport Unit is organizing Yoga classes at IGI Airport Lines complex on regular basis by trained Yoga teacher to release stress and also to keep the personnel mentally and physically fit. Further, in an endeavour to make International Yoga Day remarkable, a yoga session was organised at the IGI Airport Lines in the morning of 21st June 2021. This yoga session was organized offline as well as through online mode also for all the staff of this unit by ensuring Covid Appropriate Behaviour. The main focus of this session was to encourage the personnel of this unit to incorporate yoga in their daily routine, as it has been observed during the pandemic times that regular practice of Yoga helps not only in speedy recovery of the infected patients but also it help as immunity booster to all. All the present personnel were briefed that Yoga boost immunity of the personnel by adopting various yoga aasans in daily routine and by making small changes in their daily food diets. Further, after completion of the yoga session, the inauguration ceremony of the Subsidiary Training Unit was held at the 3rd floor of DCP Office cum Police Station, IGI Airport building. Hence, a subsidiary training unit having an 84” Interactive panel installed with an internet facility has been made functional today for the staff of IGI Airport Unit. This dedicated training hall has a seating capacity of 30 personnel at a time while maintaining social distancing norms.
