CBI files a chargesheet against 27 accused in a case releated to Death of Sri. Manoj C T alias Payyoli Manoj of Kerala

The Central Bureau of Investigation has today filed a charge sheet before the CJM Court, Ernakulam against 27 accused including members of political party,

trade union, “Hit gang” etc. of Payyoli Muchukunnu and Vatakara in Kerala on the allegations of conspiracy, house trespass, attacking with deadly weapons, murder etc. U/s 120-B r/w 302 r/w 34 & 149, 143, 147, 148, 427, 449 & 506 of IPC. The chargesheet contains 130 witnesses, 112 documents and 12 MOs including the weapons used for assault. Departmental action was also recommended against then Inspector of Police and then Dy.SP of State Police.

CBI had registered the instant case on 29.03.2016 and taken over the investigation on the orders dated 28.01.2016 of High Court of Kerala. It was alleged that Sri. Manoj C T alias Payyoli Manoj of Ayinicad, Payyoli, Kozhikode District(Kerala) was an auto driver and Union Leader of Koilandi and a member of a political party who contested panchayat election in 2011. He was brutally attacked with weapons by workers of another political party on the night of 12.02.2012 in the retaliation of attack on one of their members, which took place 4 days prior to the incident. Shri Manoj was grievously injured and died on the early morning of 13.02 2012 at Medical College Hospital. The Payyoli Police had registered case vide Crime No 84/2012 and filed a charge sheet against 15 accused on 14.05.2012.. Subsequently the case was investigated by Crime Branch of Kerala Police till 2016.

During the CBI investigation, 10 persons including leaders of a political party were arrested as involvement of certain leaders of a political party surfaced in the conspiracy.

After thorough investigation, CBI filed a chargesheet.

The public is reminded that the above findings are based on the investigation done by CBI and evidence collected by it. Under the Indian Law, the accused are presumed to be innocent till their guilt is finally established after a fair trial.
