THREE DAY EXTRAVAGANZA ON INDIAN FASHION JEWELLERY & ACCESSORIES DECLARED OPEN BY SHRI SHANTMANU, DEVELOPMENT COMMISSIONER [ HANDICRAFTS]

Greater Noida – July 4, 2019 –Shri Shantmanu, IAS, Development Commissioner [Handicrafts]  inaugurated the 12th edition of Indian Fashion Jewellery & Accessories show [IFJAS] being held concurrently with 63RD edition of India International Garment Fair [IIGF] at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida, NCR Delhi in a colourful ceremony today.  The IFJAS is being organized by Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts [EPCH] and IIGF is being organized by Apparel Export Promotion Council [AEPC].

Shri Ravi K. Passi, Chairman – EPCH, Shri Vikas Manaktala, President, IFJAS 2019, Shri Rakesh Kumar, Chairman – IEML and Director General  – EPCH, Shri Rahul Mehta, Chairman, IGFA and President, CMAI and members of Committee of Administration of EPCH were present on the occasion.

While inaugurating the show, Shri Shantmanu, Development Commissioner [Handicrafts]  said that IFJAS is one of the leading product specific expositions of fashion jewellery & accessories.  It provides opportunity to small and medium manufacturers and exporters to showcase their art in jewellery craft.

Shri Shantmanu further said that fashion jewellery and accessories from India have great potential for export to the world market.  Government of India has taken various measures in order to support the exporters of handicrafts and has also formulated schemes for generation of employment in the sector.

Around 250  exhibitors  drawn from all parts of the country are  displaying High fashion jewellery, semi precious jewllery, stoles, scarves, shawls, hand bags, clutch purses, belts, wallets, neck ties, beads, stones, crystals, head, hair accessories, fancy fashion footwear, tattoes and bindies.  The designs on display are rich, traditional, modern and contemporary to suit all sections of society and markets informed Shri Ravi K. Passi, Chairman – EPCH.

Shri Rakesh Kumar, DG – EPCH said that  Buyers from Argentina, Barbados, Brazil, Belgium, Colombia, Finland, France, Greece, Italy, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Mexico, Nigeria, Norway, Russia, Senegal, Singapore, South Africa,  Spain, Sri Lanka, UAE, UK and  USA are  visiting to source their requirement of exquisite range of products of fashion jewellery and accessories.

Apart from the countries mentioned above buyers from CIS countries namely Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and  from African countries like Congo, Ghana, Gambia, Senegal, Nigeria and South Africa are also visiting to source their requirement, he further added.

During all days of the fair, Fashion shows will be one of the main attractions for the visiting buyers who will be witnessing the varied and exquisite products of fashion jewellery & accessories being displayed by the renowned models on ramp thereby making it easy for them to source the products of their choice.

Shri Kumar further elaborated that under endeavors of EPCH to promote the products of artisans of different craft clusters, artisans from South, Western and Eastern region of the Country have also been provided opportunity to display their exquisite products before the visiting buyers and interact with them directly.

The Handicrafts exports during the year 2018 -19 is Rs 26590.25 crores registering a growth of 15.46% in rupee terms and 6.44% in dollar terms over the same period last year.  Further, the exports of Fashion Jewellery and Accessories during the year 2018-19 has been 2332.97 Crores registering a growth of 11.34% over the same period last year.

The organizers of the show is Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts which also organizes World’s largest congregation of Handicrafts exhibitors under one roof during IHGF-Delhi Fair twice in  a year.
