CBI ARRESTS AN ENFORCEMENT OFFICER OF EPFO AND A CONSULTANT IN A BRIBERY CASE OF RS. TWO LAKH

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an Enforcement Officer, Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh) and a Consultant (Private person) in a bribery case.

A case was registered U/s 120-B IPC and Section 7 of PC Act, 1988 on a complaint alleging therein that the Enforcement Officer, Sub Regional Office, Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation, Ujjain has demanded a bribe of Rs.5,00,000/- from the complainant through a Consultant (private person) to get the ongoing enquiry against him disposed off favourably. CBI laid a trap and caught the Consultant for accepting a bribe of Rs.2,00,000/- During investigation, the Enforcement Officer was also arrested. Searches were conducted at the premises of accused.

Both the arrested accused were produced before the Special Judge, CBI Cases, Indore and remanded to police custody till 06.06.2019.
