Postal authorities should open post-office at Chandni Chowk before of Dariba post-office
Historical Chandni Chowk and surrounding areas in walled city of old Delhi and still a big wholesale-marker in Asia for so many commodities. But gradually post-offices in this area are gradually closing with Post Offices at Chandni Chowk already closed, and Dariba post-office to be closed shortly because of poor condition of the building. Presently accounts handled at Chandni Chowk post-office are also shifted at Dariba post-office with a separate counter to deal with customers of old Chandni Chowk post-office at Dariba post-office. Even a nearing post-office at Daryaganj has been shifted from main Subhash Marg to some interior lane of Daryaganj causing difficulties for public.
After closing of Dariba post-office, people will have no option other than to rush to far away General Post Office (GPO) near Kashmiri Gate. Postal-authorities should immediately find a suitable premises for post-office at Chandni Chowk preferably at ground floor before closing down of Dariba post-office. It is surprising that while banks easily find premises to open or shift new branches in Chandni Chowk, postal-authorities have not been able to find some premises for post-office at main commercial hub of Chandni Chowk in Delhi. Postal-authorities can even approach public-sector banks having their own buildings in Chandni Chowk, requesting them to lease one floor for post-office. Otherwise a make-shift arrangement can be made at Town Hall or its nearby buildings where office of Assistant Commissioner of Police also exists.
