CBI ARRESTS AN ACCUSED IN AN ON-GOING INVESTIGATION OF A CASE RELATED TO ALLEGED INCIDENT OF ABDUCTION AND ASSAULT ETC. OF A BUSINESSMAN FROM LUCKNOW

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested an accused (also relative of an Ex-MP) in an on-going investigation of a case.

It may be recalled that CBI had registered a case on 12.06.2019 U/s 147, 149, 386, 329, 420, 467, 468, 471, 394, 506 and 120-B of IPC against an Ex. MP, resident of District Prayagraj/Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh) and others on the orders dated 23.04.2019 of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and taken over the investigation of the FIR No. 810/2018, earlier registered at Police Station Krishna Nagar, Lucknow. It was alleged in the FIR that the said an Ex. MP had been demanding extortion money from the businessman based at Lucknow. It was further alleged that when the businessman opposed the same, associates of the Ex. MP abducted him from Lucknow in a car and took him to Deoria Jail, where the said an Ex. MP was present. It was also alleged in the FIR that the businessman was criminally intimidated and beaten up by said Ex. MP & his men and all his four firms were forcefully got transferred in the name of the associates of the said Ex. MP.

Searches were conducted yesterday at six locations including Lucknow and Prayagraj at the premises of the Ex. MP; his associates and others, which led to recovery of certain incriminating documents. Apart from this, cash of Rs.8 lakh(approx) and cheque books of various bank accounts were also found. Further investigation is continuing.

The arrested accused was produced today before the Competent Court at Lucknow and remanded to Judicial Custody.
